Hello there

Here in Portugal things are not going very well, alot of people went to unemployment, I was one of the thousands, Fortunatly, I got lucky and found myself a new job recently, I´ve been working for two months now, now I don´t have allot of time to blog.

I must start making time again

I´m working at a company that makes food for other people, at the momentI´m the cook, It´s not a easy job but somebodies has got to it.

Miles Apart

The worst part of living in a different country than the rest of ones family makes it kind hard to keep in touch. I was taken from my home land some 20 odd years ago, now I live in a country that is not my home land and far away from the rest of my family.

Every day we go on  like every day is normal and OK but, then out of the blue you get that dreaded phone call............

That call that you except because its it always nice to hear from the family back home not knowing that it might be good /bad news. 

Good news we normally find out days, weeks and some times months later, bad news however travels faster that the speed of light.

People, appreciate your family, your mom and dad, your brother or sister, your grandparents while they are hear with you, cause you/we don´t know what tomorrow brings. 

Extra Income Doesn’t Have to Mean a Second Job

You don´t even have to work nights, you´re not likely have to give up your weekends cause that´s not fun, either.

Sell Stuff

You can sell the stuff you no longer need on eBay or have a yard sale.

Hobbies

If you have a hobby you love, find a way to monetize it.

Do Something Else You Enjoy

Maybe you don t have a hobby you love and you hate your day job, but chances are there´s something out there that excites you. Some reward sites are great and some get paid to opportunities are scams, so you have to be careful.

Medical Studies

There are quite a few opportunities to make money from drug studies.

Enter Contests

You can either enter contests of chance that rely on your name being drawn to win, or you can enter contests that are skill based, like art or cooking contests. Maybe you took some great photos and now you sell them online so that others can use them in their projects. Many people could use some extra income these days.

Royalties or Passive Income

Many things generate passive income in the form of royalty payments.
There are many things you can do that don´t require a second "real" job. Typically you invest in the business and then you receive a portion of the profits in return. These may require you to do some research or complete a project to receive the money, but many have no strings. Once you build a decent portfolio, it will make money without much work on your part, either in the form of gains or dividends. Maybe you´d be a great blogger or author of e-books. Scan trash piles for things in good condition that you can resell or buy items cheap at yard sales, fix them up, and sell them for a profit.This isn´t the sort of thing you want to do over the kitchen table, even if you´re great friends with the business owner.

Most people wrongly assume that these studies are only looking for people that have the medical conditions that the drugs are supposed to treat, but this isn´t the case. There are also "Get Paid To" (GPT) sites that pay you for things like clicking on links, shopping through their links, watching videos, or doing other tasks such as wrapping your car with advertisements.Rewards Sites and Surveys If you have some spare time, you can make some extra cash doing online surveys and focus groups. If you love it, it won´t seem like a job.

Maybe you designed some clip art or web graphics and you sell those. If you run out of your own stuff to sell, sell other people´s stuff. Become a Landlord If you can afford to buy a second house, duplex, or apartment building, you can make money as a landlord. While you do have to deal with maintenance issues and tenant complaints, being a landlord can bring in a substantial second income.

Even CD´s and savings accounts can generate extra income in the form of interest. Even freelancing in your current occupation can seem like a job, particularly if you don´t love what you do to start with. It doesn´t mean that you don´t have to work at all (they don´t just give money away, after all), but it is possible to make extra money without having to deliver pizza at night.You don´t have to spend your days traveling to several jobs if you need to make some extra money.It´s a hassle to seek out and apply for the jobs, and it´s even more of a pain to come home from your main job, wolf down dinner and then head out the door for another shift of work.

In fact, the studies that pay the most are for healthy individuals (Phase 1 studies) where the medical companies need people to take new medication being tested to document any side effects. Either way it can be a way to get some extra cash or other useful items. Those who have saved aggressively often achieve "financial independence" where they reach a point where they no longer have to work because the income coming from their investments is enough to sustain them.

Grants or Scholarships

If you need money for school, look into scholarships and grants. If you are passionate about something it won´t seem like a dreaded job. There are lots of things you can do from home part-time, you just have to find something that you want to do.

Books, songs, and artwork are the ones people usually think of, but passive income comes from anything that you do once, but which continues to generate money. Just make sure you protect yourself legally. Chances are you´re pursuing the activity anyway because you enjoy it, so why not make some money off of it? Think creatively about your hobbies, passions and investments and then find ways to make those earn money for you. If you proceed carefully, you can make some side money doing this.

Make it legal.

Invest Investing is a great way to generate passive income. Own Part of a Business Maybe you don´t want to own and run a business of your own, but if you can find a solid business that is looking for investors, this can be a way to make some extra money. Unfortunately, enthusiasm tends to wane when talk shifts to getting a second job.

Fortunately, there are ways to generate extra income without getting a second job.Think of something that you can do once and then sell so you can generate that passive income. If you know someone who is a great chef and opening her own restaurant, for example, you might want to back her efforts in exchange for some of her profits. Maybe you´d love to tutor or help kids with SAT prep. A blog with advertising can generate passive income years after you wrote the post. Even if you´re not in school, you may be able to find a grant to support you while you work on an invention, novel, artwork, or other endeavor.

Just make sure you can afford to lose the money you invest in case the business tanks, and make sure you get a good lawyer to draw up the contracts.  OR........

Back stabbing

There are so many lying, back stabbing, make believe people out there, they make believe that they are your friend and then they would turn around and stab you in the back.

Have you ever confined a secret to a "friend" just to find out that he/she went and told the world, doesn´t  it  just want to make you wanna grab her/him by the neck and shake all hell out of them. 

Well that has happened to me, once too often that I´d care to admit, now I´ve learned my lesson and never talk about personal problems with no one other than my sisters.

There are people out there just waiting to find there next victim to crush, it´s like they get off on that, like it´s their own personal orgasm.

It´s Not FAIR

We don´t know what tomorrow brings, if we´re gonna see, hear, smell, feel or taste, we so often complain about what we don´t have that we can´t see what we do have. Be thankful, for waking up in the morning, for being able to walk, for having a loved one who cares for you, for the food you have, there are so many things we should be thankful for.

Today I learned that a family member, a young man, he´s only 28, with his whole life still ahead of him, soon to be a father, has lung cancer....

I was speechless, did not know what so say, a person who is so active and dynamic, who´s always ready to help another, who never smoked in his life, who....... is only 28. I ask myself how can that be now that he´s in the prime of his life, now that he is starting to enjoy life. now that he´s starting to build a family, it is being taken away.

Hello again

I have been thinking about my blog, trying to find the perfect solutions for the problems I´m having, so I thought maybe..... If I´d make a few changes inside, move a few things around, maybe change  the topic, what would happen.

Well two things could happen, either I start getting much more traffic to my blog or it dies down, personally I´d prefer the first choice.

I have been wondering why I´ve had so little or no traffic, I mean I blog often enough, normally I have original content, I tried some back linking, forums and who knows what not, still, nothing.

There are so many people out there giving advise about everything that it gets confusing, SEO, Google AdSense, PPC and so many more, not to mention an even greater amount of people trying to sell that information, listen you can find all the info you need on the Internet, do not pay for info.

Like I said just gonna make some changes you may not even notice them.

Job Hunting in Portugal

Hope that everyone is OK, it has been a few days since the last time I have said something, I know, I´m sorry. Like another 70% of the Portuguese population I´ve been out looking for a new job, unfortunately it is not easy, seeing that Portugal is going through a economic crises and jobs are hard to find.

I´m still trying my luck as an Internet marketer, but even that takes time, but I´m not gonna give up. I have tried so many different things and ways but still nothing witch is why I´m still looking for a regular job too. Hope that all you have better luck than I do.

Mothers Day

Yes it´s that time of the year again, Mothers Day.

I am happy on one side and sad on the other, Happy because I have a beautiful daughter whom I know loves me and I´m so grateful to have her in my life, she was the best thing that happened to me, 12 awesome years ago.

I´m sad because when I see children and even grown ups who doesn´t care for their mothers, it just breaks my heart, do they not know how precious it is to have their mothers near, that she´s maybe the one person who would do almost anything for them and still she doesn´t get the respect that she deserves.

I am sad because my sisters and I, we didn´t have our mother near while growing up we only had each other, we had to learn stuff the hard way, on our own.

However I would like to think that we are stronger "because" we only had us, we are better parents, loving mothers and because we are making up for all the love and care we didn´t have while growing up, with our daughters.

So what I´m meaning to say is that, enjoy your mother, you do not want to know what it´s like to NOT having her around.

I wish all he mothers a very happy Mothers Day

Familly Matters

Two thirds of my/our lives we have lived very distant from any other family members and we have missed out on so many moments, the bad ones and the good ones, those joyful moments of new births, sweet sixteens and finishing school, birthdays, all those moments that are normally shared in the family also the illnesses and deaths in the family, where we couldn´d attend the funerals because we are here living so very far from our birth land.

Unfortunately or fortunately we are obligated to say we are at home here where we live now, because now we have made new family´s of our own, soon we´re gonna have a new addition to our family and it´s gonna be the first BOY in the family, Yeahhhhh.

I love my family.

Words of Advice

It has been over 20 years since the last time I/we have seen any member of our family from South Africa. 

20 long years keeping up only by letters and by phone but, my sisters and I have had the opportunity to hug and talk to some of them in person.

Finally after all these years we got to meet our sister that was born after we came to Portugal, she´s a nice person and I´m so glad that we had this chance to meet her.

I´d like to say to everyone, to enjoy the people that are in you're life, your parents, brothers, sisters, aunts e uncles and cousins,  you never know when or how that´s gonna change. Don´t take up to much time in futile quarrels, say sorry and get it over with, be happy and you´ll make others happy.

Do you suffer of those Spring Allergies?

Spring time is here YEAH that sweet smell of flowers everywhere, the birdies singing in the trees, seems like everything´s brighter, the days are longer and warmer, Oh how I love spring.

But then again it is not a very happy time for those who suffer of those spring time allergies, actually it is a dreadful time for them, I know my daughter has these allergies and in spring we always have problems with her allergies.

Sometimes I wonder why she got these allergies, I don´t have any and her dad has asthma, but no allergies, I think, so why does she? What are allergies?  And what causes these allergies?  

Here are some facts about allergies and what causes them.

"An allergy is a hypersensitivity disorder of the immune system. Allergic reactions occur when a person's immune system reacts to normally harmless substances in the environment. A substance that causes a reaction is called an allergen. These reactions are acquired, predictable, and rapid. Allergy is one of four forms of hypersensitivity and is formally called type I (or immediate) hypersensitivity. Allergic reactions are distinctive because of excessive activation of certain white blood cells called mast cells and basophils by a type of antibody called Immunoglobulin E (IgE). This reaction results in an inflammatory response which can range from uncomfortable to dangerous.

Mild allergies like hay fever are very common in the human population and cause symptoms such as red eyes, itchiness, and runny nose, eczema, hives, hay fever, or an asthma attack. Allergies can play a major role in conditions such as asthma. In some people, severe allergies to environmental or dietary allergens or to medication may result in life-threatening reactions called anaphylaxis. Food allergies, and reactions to the venom of stinging insects such as wasps and bees are often associated with these severe reactions.

Many allergens such as dust or pollen are airborne particles. In these cases, symptoms arise in areas in contact with air, such as eyes, nose, and lungs. For instance, allergic rhinitis, also known as hay fever, causes irritation of the nose, sneezing, itching, and redness of the eyes. She gets that alot.

Inhaled allergens can also lead to asthmatic symptoms, caused by narrowing of the airways (bronchoconstriction) and increased production of mucus in the lungs, shortness of breath (dyspnea), coughing and wheezing, In this case her dad, since he has asthma, spring time is a horrer.

Aside from these ambient allergens, allergic reactions can result from foods, insect stings, and reactions to medications like aspirin and antibiotics such as penicillin. Symptoms of food allergy include abdominal pain, bloating, vomiting, diarrhea, itchy skin, and swelling of the skin during hives. Food allergies rarely cause respiratory (asthmatic) reactions, or rhinitis. Insect stings, antibiotics, and certain medicines produce a systemic allergic response that is also called anaphylaxis; multiple organ systems can be affected, including the digestive system, the respiratory system, and the circulatory system.

Depending on the rate of severity, it can cause cutaneous reactions, bronchoconstriction, edema, hypotension, coma, and even death. This type of reaction can be triggered suddenly, or the onset can be delayed. The severity of this type of allergic response often requires injections of epinephrine.

Risk factors for allergy can be placed in two general categories, namely host and environmental factors. Host factors include heredity, gender, race, and age, with heredity being by far the most significant. However, there have been recent increases in the incidence of allergic disorders that cannot be explained by genetic factors alone. Four major environmental candidates are alterations in exposure to infectious diseases during early childhood, environmental pollution, allergen levels, and dietary changes.

Allergic parents are more likely to have allergic children, and their allergies are likely to be more severe than those from non-allergic parents. Some allergies, however, are not consistent along genealogies; parents who are allergic to peanuts may have children who are allergic to ragweed. It seems that the likelihood of developing allergies is inherited and related to an irregularity in the immune system, but the specific allergen is not.

The risk of allergic sensitization and the development of allergies varies with age, with young children most at risk.Several studies have shown that IgE levels are highest in childhood and fall rapidly between the ages of 10 and 30 years. The peak prevalence of hay fever is highest in children and young adults and the incidence of asthma is highest in children under 10.

Overall, boys have a higher risk of developing allergy than girls, although for some diseases, namely asthma in young adults, females are more likely to be affected.Sex differences tend to decrease in adulthood."

Now I know that the fact that we live in the city has played a magor role in why she´s got these allergies, all I can say is Mommy´s sorry baby, I didn´t know.

How about some Portuguese Folklore

Hello everyone, especially all the Portuguese family´s in the world.

Just want to say how much I enjoy watching Portuguese folklore, that is the traditional Portuguese dancing, it is always a pleasure to watch. And now with the coming of summer Portugal comes alive, with traditional festivals all over the country.

Last year my daughter and her dad traveled with their group to different parts of Portugal just to go dance for the people. They would get up early in the morning to get ready so they would not miss the bus, then they would be inside the bus, sometimes for hours on end,  when they reach their destination they´d change into their traditional outfits, which of course is a very beautiful sight to see.

Then after waiting sometimes for an hour or so they would go up the stage and dance their hearts out, giving their absolute best so that everything goes smoothly, for about  30 minutes or so. The spectators would applaud them with such charisma that they know they´ve done well.

After a short lunchin they´d go back to the bus, change their cloths and then head back home, sometimes they would arrive in the early mornings.

The fact of the matter is that they enjoy this, they love dancing, traveling, to out be there, because it is a tradition that is slowly dying. There are but a few folklore groups left, and every year even fewer survive and now with our economy being in the state it is in, more and more associations give up, there are less and less seport from the government and to stand on their own some times is just not enough.

Are you Stressed?

Hello everyone

Lately stress has been a constant in my life, can´t sleep or eat right, there are so many things going on in life that most negative and some positive all of them creating stress.

I don´t know if I have told you before, so here it goes, I was born and raised in Africa and some twenty years ago I came to Portugal and ever since I never went back home, which makes it some 20 odd years I don´t see anybody of my family back home, né.

I´ve been stressed out because one of my aunts and a few of my cousins are coming over next month to visit me and my sisters, 20 years is a very long time, we often talked on the phone or on msn even on face book but never in real life.

It makes me nervous to think maybe they are not going to like me or what my life is like, my husband, my house etc, I worry, yes.

I never actually had a parent figure to tel me that I have done well or not, everything  I have, I worked for always on my own till I let my husband and ever since it has been the two of us, I know that my sisters they feel exactly the same, our step father bought us here and then left us here, not a nice story, who knows I might write a book one day.

But for now I must coup and work so that their visit is pleasant and without incident, after all I´m their guardian while they are here, I´m responsible for their well being, so as you can see the pressure is on.

Well as you can see, I´ve made a few changes on my blog page, had to be done, as it was wasn´t working for me. I have taken some steps to upgrade my blog because I have taken a few YouTube seminars by Joel Comm, Known as the AdSense doctor.

So while was going through my emails looking for a job near where I live, I came across some emails that said "find out more about us visit our blog" and I did, sometimes even commented on them. After that the urge of having my own blog became even more irresistible, so I started to look for hosts where I could a blog for free and that´s how I found "Blogger".

It wasn´t easy at first so I tried and tried till I got it right, then I noticed something that said, "Find how monetize your blog". I didn´t really know what that was so I looked it up, monetize means earn money or in other words to have my blog earn me money just by having ads placed on my blog.
